The consortium has decided about the field test sites for the two water purification demonstrators. Two rivers in rural areas, one in South Africa and one in Mozambique, have been selected. From both rivers, people from informal settlements nearby are taking water for drinking and cooking purposes. The rivers contain pollutants like bacteria from cattle farming up-stream and domestic waste, or inorganic compounds from mining activities.

South Africa: Waterval, Klip River (26°26'10.2"S 28°05'31.4"E)

Mozambique: Ressano Garcia, Incomati River (25°26'22.2"S 31°59'42.4"E)

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 689925.
